What's special about Asan?

It took us two years of research and four rounds of user testing to develop the perfect menstrual cup. Below are some of the features that make the Asan cup so special.

Removal ring

Menstrual cups can be difficult to remove, especially if you have a high cervix. Asan’s unique ring design makes it incredibly easy to remove. Simply pull on the loop to bring the cup lower, and then pinch the cup to break the seal.

The ring is made from super soft and flexible silicone, which means that you will not feel it at all. In the words of our users: it's a total game-changer.

Bell-shaped design

Our bell-shaped design sits comfortably and makes a strong seal with the walls of your vagina, which means that the Asan cup offers leak-free protection.

We’ve also perfected the design of the rim and air-holes to create a strong vacuum seal. This means your cup will stay in place, even when you exercise or are active. No need to wear any back-up!

Highest quality silicone

Asan only uses Class VI medical grade silicone in our menstrual cups. This is the same material used in medical implants such as stents, and has been tested for safe use in the human body.

Call us crazy, but we are sort of obsessed with safety-testing our products — we test every single batch of our cups (learn more about our quality standards). Many of our users who have previously tried another menstrual cup notice a big difference in the feel and quality of our silicone.

Perfect sizing

Let’s face it: menstrual cup sizing can be confusing. At Asan, we’ve simplified things by designing our cups to perfectly suit your period flow (just like tampons and pads!). Our cup comes in two sizes:

Light/Medium flow: For those who can wear pads/tampons for up to 6 hours

Heavy flow: For those who leak through pads/tampons in 2-6 hours

Both cups are comfortable, and extremely easy to insert and remove. While our light/medium size works for most people, our heavy flow size is the best menstrual cup for anyone who faces heavy periods, irregular periods and clots. To learn more, visit our detailed sizing guide.

Help and support

We know that using a menstrual cup for the first time can be daunting. The Asan cup comes with an incredible illustrated user guide and we've worked with doctors to make a great FAQ resource

To learn more about the Asan cup and how it works, you can watch our Q&A session with UK-trained gynaecologist Dr. Premalatha. If you need further help, simply reach out on social media or send us an email and we’ll get back to you straight away!

Sustainability

The Asan cup is the most sustainable option you could choose for your periods. Due to the incredible quality, our cup can be re-used for up to 10 years. It is super durable and will not discolour. This means that one single Asan cup replaces roughly 2,500 disposable sanitary pads and tampons.

Social impact

Asan’s mission is to eradicate period poverty. This is why for every single cup you purchase, we donate one for free to a woman or girl in rural India who cannot afford access to period products.

We have a dedicated team at Asan focused solely on donations, and all our donations come with a detailed menstrual health education session. You can learn more about our donation scheme here.

Awards and features

We’re thrilled to have been supported by incredible universities such as Harvard and Cambridge and to have won multiple awards for our superior product and social mission. You can read more about our founding story and our social mission in Vogue.
